The second book is here in my hands..
My first thoughts are simply of awe ! I turn to the last page .. an old habit to see the book-is-about and see this picture of my brother and the awe thoughts transforms into a thoughts of pure envy ! I quickly come out of the envy mode and turn to the Preface page to find myself happy .. theek hai acha hai ! Then I move to the dedication page to read what he has written in here.. and then the feeling is of marvel! Such awesome thread of thoughts he has put in – I love that phrase – ” The road which i thought …. had no destination but the journey. ” Congratulations dear Akku !!
I know publishing a novel is a cup of tea not everyone gets to drink .. !
Anush Ravindranathan wrote beautifully in his blog about the writers block once. Overcoming this writers block and putting in your body and mind to bring up this 150 odd page novel is a huge task when you are a son, brother, husband, also a father of a two year old and above all a practicing Oral and maxilofacial surgeon. The writing part of the novel took its time – days and nights, it must have been very taxing – I can imagine. Then comes the difficult part when you have to hand over your baby to another hand to read it, edit it, and give you a thumps up !! Can you do this ? Can you keep your cool – as this takes months .. because your baby might not interest this editor, your baby might lie in the dumps! What do you do – cross your fingers and wait. Meanwhile you talk and find two more dear hearts who are ready to look at the work.. thankfully! “Lying in the dumps” part is true because I was one who kept Akku(as we call him at home) hanging for months for the editing job for his second novel. I could really finish the initial editing of his first novel ” Born Again” in days but not his one. .. Alas !
Thank God soon you get a thumps up from one friend who edits and gives you the much needed word GO! Then comes the next hurdle – find a publisher who will take a look at the work! Oh wow.. that is one major breakthrough when you realize there is A good publisher who has agreed to publish your novel and you sign on the dotted lines and the rest is history ….
This also reiterates my belief that this Journey is on no silky road but it polishes your person and you find joy in them which is priceless.

Thank you so much Mini Raj didi, as always, for all your support. The way you explained things even I could not have explained better about this journey of mine. And you have nailed it: writing is only half the work, getting it edited, polished, rewrite and finding a publisher takes more time. I love the word ‘Baby’ and the way you are holding it, I am kind of jealous…:)

It feels wonderful when someone, whom you admire and look up to understands the effort you have put in to your work and appreciate it.
Thank you Mini Raj.
